Wrong Place Wrong Time is a mystery thriller. One night Jen is waiting up for her 18-year-old son, Todd when she sees a man walking toward him on the street. As they approach each other, Todd pulls out a knife and stabs the man. Jen is shocked...why did Todd even have knife? why did he use it so quickly? The police and EMTs arrive. Todd is arrested and she and her husband, Kelly are in shock.
The next morning, she wakes up expecting to go to the police station, but it the day before the murder takes place. Confused, Jen thinks maybe she can stop it from happening. But by the end of the day, she isn't any closer to understanding. Jen continues to wake up in the past...further and further as she gathers clues and learns pieces of the puzzle. But can she learn enough and stop it from happening? OR will she be lost in this time tunnel backwards?
The mystery takes place in Liverpool, UK and uses a decent about of British slang and terminology which was a little frustrating at times. For the most part, I could use context to determine the meaning but several times I googled words or phrases to make sure.
Although I am pretty good at suspending reality for the sake of a good story, there were a few things that never sat right with me. At one point, Kelly confides in his son information that is inconsistent with his actions as a father. He is a good dad and I struggled believing that he would confide in his teenage son and not his wife.
Overall, it was a good thriller and did keep me guessing until close to the end. I would read more books by Gillian McAllister.
