The In-Between was given to me by a friend who was a hospice nurse. She gave it to her family and friends as a way for us to understand her job and why she did it. I always knew it was a calling for her and this book helped me understand why.

Hadley Vlahos is a young nurse who found her calling early and is making the end of life more comfortable for patients and families. The In-Between tells her personal story while sharing some of her patients' journeys during their last days in this earthly world. She learns life lessons from them while she keeps them and their families comfortable. She witnesses peaceful, comforting encounters between patients and their deceased loved ones who are waiting to take them on their next journey.
I am so glad I read this book before I or my loved ones are facing hospice care. Inevitably, the time will come and I hope I remember Hadley's and my friend's experiences so they can comfort me.
