My first book of 2023 was a great read filled with interesting characters and a fulfilling storyline!

Iona Iverson is quite the character! She dresses in loud outfits, brings her dog everywhere and generally, makes an impression on everyone she meets (or just passes by). Every weekday, she takes the train to her job at the magazine she has worked at for almost 30 years, riding in the same car, in the same seat. One day, she breaks her rule of not talking to people. Soon, she has broken that rule multiple times and finds a group of friends.
As an advice columnist, Iona freely offers advice to her friends – all of whom have personal issues they are trying to manage. And, as it turns out, Iona could use a little advice herself.
If you have ever commuted to work on a train, you will appreciate the ‘train culture’ including rider nicknames like Impossibly-Pretty-Constant-Reader and Smart-But-Sexist-Manspreader.
Iona Iverson’s Rules for Commuting is a wonderful book that will make laugh and root for the characters.
